We didn't run Red at Dingley because the ground was a bit too soft and she hadn't done as much work as I would have like because we were worried about her fetlock which was a bit puffy after she had pulled a shoe of during her last race. She is absolutely fine now and is raring to go next weekend where she is entered for Garthorpe, with Dream who will be in the Maiden race. We had intended to run Dove tomorrow at Paxford, but Will phoned to say that all his other rides there had pulled out and he had been offered five rides at Eyton on the same day. He said that if we really wanted to run Dove he would still ride her as he didn't want to lose the ride - I couldn't insist that he rode her as she may refuse to start and she is in season so we have decided to leave it until next Saturday at Kingston Blount.
Doug and I rode Dream and Red this morning twice up the uphill gallop - Doug was on Dream and she went as well as she has ever gone, AT LAST we are getting somewhere with her. You can guarantee that now she has been entered she will do something silly and hurt herself again. Red went really well too, and both had good heart rate readings and recovery rates with a top speed of 32.2mph.
Mum and Dad came to lunch. Poor Mum had a fall last weekend, she tripped over a curb and hit her head, she was black and blue, it is astonishing that she didn't break anything. She still remains as cheerful as ever but I think it has shaken them both. She bought lots of plants from her garden so I am hoping for some nice weather tomorrow so I can plant them out.
After they had gone we watched a very exciting rugby game between Lenster and Harlequins. It was seriously tough with only one try each. Lenster just managed to win by one point.
We then had an evening ride on Dove and Frog - we took them up the gallop and Dove went with no hesitation at all, we then went up the grass gallop and she was as good as gold. She really is a Jekyll and Hide character. I just hope this good mood lasts until Saturday. She felt terrific. If she decides to start with the rest she will take some beating.
