Lucy and I took Red and Frog up the all weather twice, second time upsides and at a good pace, both went really well and we are delighted with the way Frog is settling into her work - she seems to have really clicked with Lucy as Lucy is really laid back and counteracts Frogs nerves - probably because she hasn't seen Frog at her worst and ignorance is bliss!
We then went for a hack on Harry and Dream - both went well but Dream tied up again on the way home even though we didn't go very far. We will have to seriously increase the electrolytes and salts in her diet and reduce the protein intake. We can't believe how well Harry has come out of his race - it was a gruelling three miles and yet he is as fresh as a daisy with absolutely no after effects. He is quite an extraordinary horse - always happy and incredibly easy to train - if we ever got his jumping sorted out he really would be a serious racehorse. Jake has also come out of the race better than before and is already back on his food.
Will came to school Red and Frog at lunchtime and because Ben is still away with his poorly wrist his friend Chris came in to ride Jake - we thought it would be a good idea for Jake to join the schooling session as his confidence needed a boost after his fall - Red was absolutely brilliant and jumped like a stag - then it was Frog's turn and she was rather naughty, deciding that she didn't want to jump today thank you very much - with a bit of persuasion she eventually jumped reasonably well, Jake jumped with her and although he went well you could tell that he was still a bit stiff behind. We will get the chiropractor to him before he runs again.
Last night we went to the local pub with a group from the estate who decided that it would be a very good idea to celebrate Harry's win. It was a lovely surprise when Mr Allen, who owns the estate, popped in to buy us a drink. He was at the races and although just missed the first race had heard all about it and was very excited for us. It was a lovely evening and really made us realise how lucky we are to live where we do.
