OH I do LOVE my daffodils!!
The first signs of Spring - although it certainly does not feel very 'Spring like' today.
Cold and wet. Doug rode Dove first thing and took her up the gallops on her own - it's the first time she has been up the all weather for ages as she tends to 'bolt' up there and then scares herself, not wanting to go up again, but because Doug has done so much flat work in the school he was able to make her go up nice and steadily in a lovely outline, and she obviously enjoyed it because she happily went up three times. We may be getting somewhere...(?)
Red and Harry both did a really good piece of work and I was delighted with Red as she didn't make a noise at all and feels as good as she's ever felt. The race has clearly brought her on.
Dream, on the other hand felt like a seaside donkey - she's not over impressed with being back at work after her holiday and only perks up when she is on her way home. She is on some treatment which stops her from tying up but it certainly isn't making her go any faster! I will persevere for a little longer, after which I may just be content with her as my hunter and trainers hack. Frog has come out of her race really well although she was clearly tired (or in shock, like us!) as she was a little quiet and not quite her normal self for the first couple of days. She is back now, and we have to make the decision as to whether to give her a holiday now and then bring her back early for a campaign under rules. She is obviously good enough and as she is still unfurnished will be even better next season.
Doug is busy fencing and I'm supposed to be doing office work. We are meeting up with Joseph and Sophie this evening in the Holly Bush for a bar-snack. Better get on and catch the post.
