We got some more snow on Monday evening and have since worked all the horses in the big flat field - long slow cantering. They really enjoy it as we don't go in single file, we go two or three abreast and they all feel as though they are in the front. They have been surprisingly well behaved and haven't tried to go faster than we would like, The only one who has blotted her copybook is Doris, who has been going remarkably well but is very competitive, Doug was on Jake and came up on her inside which she did not like one bit - she kicked out and amazingly got Doug on the arm and chest - bearing in mind how tall Jake is and Doug isn't exactly small it was one hell of a high kick. He is still in quite a lot of pain but is sure it's not broken and wont let me take him to hospital (a very bwave soldier).
I have just come back from doing a bit of Christmas shopping, nothing like leaving it until the last minute, and I still haven't finished. The roads were lethal as it has slightly thawed during the day and is now freezing again, leaving the surface like an ice-rink. There is another huge smash up on the M40 and the junction is blocked. I tried to stop at the main roundabout and just kept going, I even tried using my handbrake but that didn't work either. Luckily there was nothing coming...
