We had a great night on New Years Eve and then, after doing the horses, spent New Years Day at Cheltenham - a perfect start to the year with brilliant racing and catching up with a few friends.
Today Charlie Poste came to school Harry (Unoitmakessense) as he is riding him tomorrow at Hereford in a three mile two furlong hurdle race. Will has been unwell for the last week and hasn't been able to get to the gym so can't make the weight. I took Oaka and Doug took Jake to keep him company. Harry jumped with enthusiasm and there were no scary moments - he did a couple of 'twists' but nothing major. We could do with a bit more rain to make it really soft but it's a nice race and hopefully he wont disgrace himself. If I was being really fussy I would say that he's not quite 'top of the clock' yet - he hasn't quite come through in his coat and his top line needs a bit more work, but having said that he has been working well enough and should have come on from his last run. The most important thing is that he comes home safely having run to the best of his ability on the day.
Doug was busy shoeing horses this afternoon so I took the dogs for a long walk. I'm really looking forward to getting lighter evenings. We're over the worst now....
