Wimbledon

Phew, that was a bit close for comfort! It is strange though as I have to say that I find Andy Murray (and his rather smug mother) most unattractive, not in a physical way but there is just something about them where you almost want them to lose. That sounds dreadful doesn't it?
He can be almost likable at times, as can his mother, but I just get the impression that they actually hate anyone that isn't Scottish, and they are just tolerating us (the English) to get the support needed in Grand Slams etc.. The Spaniard, Vadasco, on the other hand was not only a bit of 'eye candy' but also seemed a thoroughly nice person and actually, if I am being completely honest and risk being burned at the stake, I actually quite wanted him to win. There I've said it now, but if Murray wins the Wimbledon championship I will be very happy for him.....
I can't believe Warren Gatland has left Brian O'Driscoll out off the squad for Saturday's Lions match and put another Welsh player in his place. It is a massive call as O'Driscoll is the most experienced player in the team and surely must contribute hugely when it comes to steadying the nerves of the younger players and keeping a lid on the game when there is so much pressure. I can understand why Gatland has done it as he knows the Welsh players from when he managed the National side but it is one heck of a risk.
We went out with the Lions in 2001 and at that stage it was fairly even between English, Irish and Welsh players, with a bit of Scottish, and it was very evident within the supporters the rivalry between the different nationalities and how if one player, who happened to be Welsh, let's say, played well (or badly) the fans in question would make a massive deal out of it to the point where the arguments got quite heated about which country was contributing the most. I can imagine that the atmosphere in Australia, at the moment (unless they are all Welsh!) might not be terribly harmonious.........
