We are all ready for Chipley Park tomorrow. We have Jess (We Never Give Up) in the Intermediate, Popaway in the Mares race and Back in a Flash in the first division of the maiden.
Jess won't particularly like the ground but if it is sloppy enough she should go through it alright. Since Cottenham she has come on enormously and we think the reason why she didn't go well there we partly due to her not letting herself down on the ground. She is a very footy mare and jarred herself up badly last time she ran at Cottenham, and I don't think she had forgotten. She had been shod the day before which didn't help as she was feeling them on the frosty ground. She could do with the run and it will increase her fitness for when the ground comes more to her liking. Flash is also going down for a run and we are putting Tara on board to give her a nice ride around and try and sweeten her up. Last season she lived up to her name nicely and went to the back in a flash,  but hopefully this season with a few nice gentle runs she will fall back in love with racing again as she is perfectly capable. The reason why we are going all the way to Chipley is really for the mares race for Popaway. She had a little wind operation in the autumn and is going really well. Toby gave her a piece of work on Wednesday and announced "This mare can't be beaten"  Joe Docker schooled her on Friday and was thrilled with her. The competition is very hot so it will be interesting to see whether she will be as good on the track as she feels at home......Fingers crossed they all come home safely.
