A really wonderful day. No winners but Ponty Pandy ran a fantastic race and came a very good second, Lady Barfad ran an astonishingly good race, gaining on the Whaley Cohen hot favourite when all the others were off the bridle, before unfortunately hitting a fence and then three from home pulling up when full of running because the saddle slipped. Dancer did her normal race and plugged on to be fifth.
There were hundreds of people there and a superb atmosphere. I cannot tell you how many times I was stopped and congratulated by complete strangers about our double at Cheltenham. We then had a huge impromptu party around the lorry where we were the last to leave, luckily all our horses are more than happy to nibble on their hay nets whilst ' Mum and Dad' celebrate.
Horses home now, fed and fussed over and then we went to the Carpenters Arms party where we had a quick one or two with good old Marge, the fabulous landlady. A lovely day with wonderful owners whom make you realise how special the sport is
