We are just on our way back from Christopher Sporborgs funeral. Christopher used to keep a couple of horses with us last season and he very sadly passed away on January 2nd of this year. He was a hugely successful businessman and a very good trainer in his own right. His son, William was tragically paralysed in a racing accident on one of Christopher's horses. He gave a
wonderful tribute to his father from his wheelchair and it was clear that the accident has not dimmed his spirit which he has inherited from his father. There was a huge police presence outside the church so I guess there were some rather important guests, and us of course!
This morning we schooled Ponty Pandy, Sea Rock, Exclusive Rights (who are all running tomorrow) and Endofdiscussion (Endo) and Intimate Whisper who are running at Whitfield on the 8th February. All good except Endo who was a bit reluctant but got better third time up.
Looking forward to tomorrow at Larkhill with a certain amount of nervous anticipation. Scruffy (Exclusive Rights) has had the benefit of a run and should run a big race. She is wearing a hood for the first time which we have tried out at home and it seems to settle her nicely. Ponty is very fresh and feels very well but may need the run. We had no choice but to enter him in a club members as there wasn't a restricted race so he is punching above his weight a bit. He had a wind operation after last season, so it will be interesting to see if it has worked. Talking of wind ops, Rock may need one as he has started to make a bit of a noise on the gallops so tomorrow will be a fact finding mission with him. He feels like a very classy horse to ride so it will be interesting to see how he runs.
Grrrrrrr. We are still crawling along at 4 mph along the M1 having taken one hour to go three miles...
