Thank goodness all horses are safely on the way home. When we walked the course it was much softer than we would have ever imagined and we knew that it wasn't going to be our day as all our runners rather needed top of the ground. But at least it was safe and they all jumped really well. Popaway ran a good race but was in need of a proper racecourse gallop which we were hoping to get at the Atherstone but it was a walkover, so she was just lacking that bit if fitness and finished mid division. Dr K who also finished mid division was plenty fit enough but hated the dead ground and didn't try as hard as he might have done as he was full of himself after the race had finished. The two big fence debutantes, Out of Range and We Never Give Up jumped incredibly well and kept up with the pace until the front runners quickened and both Peter and Tobt very sensibly pulled up two from home. Fantastic racing though and just wonderful to be there and take part. It would have been an absolute dream come true if Jake had won at Cheltenham for the fourth time but he has given us so much fun and we are so lucky to have been part of it. His little sister 'Ask Away ' is running on Sunday at Dingley so maybe she will carry on his legacy...
There was a great crowd of people there and we met up in the owners and trainers bar afterwards. Another fantastic Cheltenham. Roll on next year!
