We (myself, Patrick White and Doug) have just walked Dingley and sadly, inspite of Luke Wheeler's best efforts the ground is too firm to run any of our horses. He is continuing to water tomorrow morning and if it seriously rains tonight then we may be in with a chance.  However, after walking the course we met up with Luke in the local pub, The Wheel and Compass and had a lovely evening reminiscing about  colourful farming characters that are sadly no longer with us, and how sad it is that we no longer have the livestock markets that used to hold the farming community together.  We then had supper in the Pytchley which happily still serve the best steaks around.
