Bother and blast. Thorpe is off too and as we aren't entered anywhere else we now have a clear weekend with fifteen horses ready to run and champing on the bit...  I have NO idea why they called off Thorpe as the ground would have been perfect but maybe they couldn't get the emergency vehicles around again. It seems that some tracks, like Chaddesly Corbett always manage to go ahead no matter what and others are very quick to throw in the towel. Very frustrating, but it has been an unusually wet spring and no one can do anything about the weather.
They were nearly all schooled this morning and we were particularly pleased with the four young horses who haven't run yet, three of which have just been named - Bella is now 'Brave Bella' which really suits her as she is as brave as a lion, Lily is 'Premier Gold', as she is very closely related to 'First Gold', Pixie is now 'Answer Quick' after her very good great grand dam Quick Answer, she is also related to Doctor Kingsley and then we have Velvet Steel - as hard as steel. Four very nice horses which at this stage are 'Dreams and Aspirations' until they have their first run and then those dreams will probably all come crashing down but who knows, and that is the reason why racing thrives, it is all about those dreams...
