Sunday 10 April 2016

Great day at Andoversford, although when we had to get towed in we realised that there had been a fair bit more rain than we had anticipated, and sure enough Budge got a great start but just couldn't get through the sticky ground and pulled up - El Raven on Dancer ran a cracking race and beat some highly rated horses to come fourth. Popaway looked like the definite winner when out jumping all her rivals and going to the lead two from home, but got just got caught going up the hill by a horse that had won seven times under rules, and Jess completely dropped herself out but finished like a train and just missed out on third by a length. The ground was better there than it would have been at both Guilsborough and Mollington so we did the right thing, but we are just desperate for some genuine good ground. The race was a perfect tune up for Popaway who is going to Cheltenham on the 27th April, where the ground will have hopefully dried up by then. Two best turned outs as well!!  A lovely track and good atmosphere, and although sad to have missed Guilsborough, our home track, we really enjoyed it there and will almost certainly go back.
