Another beautiful day with Spring just bursting at the seams. The morning was spent doing the stables whilst waiting for the vet who was coming to take swabs from Velvet Dove in readiness for her visit to the stallion and to check the Frogs passport and her chip so that we can register her in this country. I am going to change her name as she has never raced yet and her French name is 'Quand Je Reve De Toi' which is rather a mouthful, but actually means 'When I dream of you' . Andrew (the vet) was very pleased with our win at the weekend, especially as Red had had a wind operation on his advice, and it had obviously worked.
I then took Dream up the gallops to see how she was - she has got an appointment with Roy the 'back guru' tomorrow and I wanted the problem to show up for him as at the moment is is rather sporadic and tends to show up after hard work. She went really well so hopefully her problem isn't serious and she is on the mend.
In the afternoon I had an appointment with the Rep from Polar, who are our biggest competitors in the heart rate monitor market. At least I thought they were until I met the Rep and saw their latest product, which to be honest is not a patch on ours. It is quite simply too complicated and just not practical. I was surprised at her lack of knowledge when it came to heart rates in horses and the lack of customer support - there is no one who has any knowledge of horse training or has any data related to horses in the Polar team and yet they have spent a fortune on this latest HR monitor specifically for horses. I will trial it for a week and see if there is any market for it as it is always good to be able to offer an alternative, but I have to say I have my doubts about whether Paddy and Mick from Ireland will ever be able to work it!
