Kauto Star wins the Gold Cup

Another afternoon of brilliant racing at Cheltenham with Kauto Star winning the Gold Cup in fine style and Denman coming second. We went yesterday and had a great day. We were particularly interested in watching Punchestowns run in the World Hurdle as he was Lynn Wilson's horse who tragically died in a car crash last summer. He was a good friend of ours and we often spent New Years Eve together. Last year he excitedly told us of this new horse he had called 'Punchestown' who he thought could win a race at Cheltenham. Well he wasn't far wrong and the horse went very close and came a very good second. Next year he will be a major contender when he goes over fences. Lynn would have been very proud of him.

After the races we went to The Rising Sun which is just outside Cheltenham. There is a band and it is alway full of Irish who insisted on buying us a round or two. Great fun but we are now feeling slightly shabbly

Cappa Bleu won the Fox hunters. He won the Mens Open at Horseheath the day Blu died. Her time was 10 seconds faster at the same spot when she fell. Oh, what might have been......

This morning we took all four horses out - Dove and Dream for a fast hack around the farm and Red and Frog up the grass gallops. Dove and Dream went really well but Red made a noise again and pulled herself up. Very disapointing. We will try her in a tongue tie, if that doesn't work she may need another wind operation.
