Worsley scoring a try for England

Yippee! The tongue tie worked on Red - she worked really well and didn't make a noise at all - Matt from Milton's yard came and showed us how to put it on. I have always been a bit dubious about using them as it seemed a bit cruel but she didn't mind it at all and really enjoyed being able to breath without her tongue flopping about and obstructing her wind passage. Such a relief as we had really reached the end of the road as far as further wind ops were concerned as she had already had two. Maybe we should have tried the tongue tie in the first place?!
We didn't run Dove even though Will Telfor had rung offering to ride her. It looked a really hot race and the ground was on the softer side of good which wouldn't really suit her. However, we found out yesterday at the rugby that the sporting paper (The Weekender) had rated her the highest in the race. Quite astonishing as she hasn't raced for two seasons and there were some very good horses entered, one of which had won 12 open races.
We have had a great weekend as far as Rugby is concerned - we saw the Saints play the Sale Sharks yesterday and they played out of their skins. They won 38-3. It was really good fast rugby and a pleasure to watch. Ben Foden was Man of the Match with little Paul Diggin also having a brilliant game. England also (surprisingly) beat France 34-10. I only watched the second half as I had a friend visiting, which wasn't as good as the first half but at least England have got something to work on now. The Irish v Welsh match next week is something to look forward to.
The Barn Owl Trust men came this afternoon to put a nesting box in the big oak tree in the meadow by the river. I can see the box from the house and would love to see Barn Owls nesting there.
