It was the Grafton's point to point today on the brand new track at Whitfield. It was too soon to run Dove after her last race so we just had a very sociable day instead watching some very good racing. It rained like mad two days before and also this morning which improved the going enormously as it was going to be very firm even though they had watered it. The sun was out before the races which attracted the general public in but once they had paid their £20 it absolutely poured. Very soggy picnics. However, the hardened racegoers enjoyed themselves and the hunt would have made some profit so all the hard work was worth it.
We only have Dove and Frog in now as all the others are on their holidays. We had entered Frog in Doncaster sales this Wednesday but yesterday we went to a similar sale at Cheltenham to see what the prices were like and trade wasn't good so we have decided not to take her to the sales after all. She is going so well at home now and I am quite excited about her and don't want to give her away. She will also be having a holiday soon to try and build up a bit but then come in early and perhaps run under rules first to see how she goes. Dove may run next week but as she is due to come into season then we will just have to wait and see what mood she is in.
We have the two youngsters to break in then but ideally I want a break from horses for a little while before we get stuck into them. I am going to have a hot bath as still very damp after racing!
