Today was just one of those days where everything conspired against me and consequently didn't get much done. Just lots of technical hitches with the computer, which are the most frustrating because they are out of your control.
Anyway, I managed to get all the orders done and took the dogs around Boddington reservoir before getting supper ready so it's not all bad.
Mr Allen, our landlord, came around for a chat on his way to check how the combining was going. He was in a very good mood as he was so pleased to see the ghastly rape crop being harvested - it had been plagued by pigeons in the early stages (we had every banger under the sun here, it was like living in Baghdad) and then was covered in poppies and other weeds - it looked so bad that even we were embarrassed by it and it had nothing to do with us! Having said that it seems to have yielded pretty well and it will also be so much better for the dogs as they have got into the habit of hunting in the crops and not coming back for ages. They are all present and correct now so I had better feed them and put them to bed as they are combining the next door field at this very moment. Might be a nasty shock for Paul if they were to end up in the stone catcher!
