Poppy inspecting the wheat.
The harvest is ready and the combine was out yesterday harvesting the oil seed rape - apparently a very good crop (over three tonnes to the acre) which is surprising because of the lack of rain.
Doug is very happy because Charlie Wadland is back working with him as it didn't work out in Charlie's last job, and he has a few free days before starting another harvest job - Doug has a couple of big fencing jobs on and has been missing the company and the help (I'm not good/patient enough apparently-huh!) It was like a scene from Broke Back Mountain seeing them skip off to work clutching their lunchboxes this morning...
Doris and Cloud are back in for a bit of prepping before going to the sales on Tuesday - because of the recession and trade being so bad, it is going to be rather a waste of time, but I guess it will be a good experience for them, and interesting for us to see how bad things really are in the horse industry - we will probably come back with more than we went with. I am rubbish at selling horses but very good at collecting them.
