We have still been on the 'culture' theme since Glastonbury (?!) and went to see 'Guys and Dolls' at Kilworth House in the outdoor theatre on Tuesday evening - it was fantastic and I couldn't recommend it enough. I normally get slightly claustrophobic in theatres because they tend to be too hot and stuffy, but sitting outside , listening to the birds sing in the most beautiful of surroundings and watching a very good musical was just perfect.
We are continuing on this high brow line tonight as we are going to see 'The Wurzels', Oh yes, those same 'I've got a brand new combine harvester' Wurzels, who I thought had retired at best, passed away at worst. They are playing on a nearby farm, and although it will be mainly Young Farmers (they are expecting around 1500) a few of us somewhat more mature 'fans' will also be attending for old times sake.
This afternoon I went to Fawsley House for a spa session (or to have my mane and tail pulled as Charlie Wadland put it) It was Doug's present to me for our anniversary. It was very pleasant and relaxing - also had the afternoon tea which was wonderful - terribly refined, except I was over enthusiastic (hungry) and got cream and jam all around my face.
The shepherds hut is fully booked this week-end with two different couples, one lot tonight and another couple coming tomorrow for two nights. Co-incidentally they are all vegetarians. One couple requested vegetarian sausages...I simply don't understand the point of buying something that looks like meat but isn't. Surely the whole thing about being a veggie is that you can't stand the thought of eating meat, not to pretend that you are?! Anyway, they are not having veggie sausages because I couldn't find them in Waitrose and I was too embarrassed to ask. I've made them a lovely fruit salad instead...
Must go and dig out my dungarees and straw hut.
