Our trip to Cornwall

We have been away in Cornwall for the past week - we went down to Niki's 50th birthday party which was held at her and her husband's pub/restaurant - The Kings Head at Ruan Lanihorn - (great place to go with DELICIOUS food if you are ever that way) The theme of the party was 'Hollywood Glamour' and fortunately for us and our dignity, Niki phoned up beforehand to stress that it was not fancy dress - we rather thought that it was Hollywood characters and as the only bit of fancy dress we own is from the fur and feather party back in the winter, we thought it might be fun to go as Tarzan and Jane, leopard skin loin clothes etc, anyway, thankfully we didn't and everyone looked terribly glamorous in long frocks and DJ's, it was a really great party and enormous fun was had by all. We were staying with David and Hazel who we have been skiing with for the past couple of years and they very kindly put up Les, Jane, Pete and Lynn who is also in the skiing group - needless to say the party then went on even further into the night after we got the minibus back to Hazels....
The next day was spent very pleasantly having a look around David's very large and beautifully managed dairy farm, and then joining Niki, Andy and their friends and family for a barbecue. The weather was perfect and it was quintessentially English/Cornish (!) - just lovely.
We then set off for the rest of our holiday - we were staying at the Port William, Trebarwith Strand, which has the most spectacular views over the sea. I just love the sound of waves crashing, and this you can hear all night long. Wonderful.
We walked along the coastal path to Boscastle, which took us most of the day and had stunning
views every step of the way. The following day we met up with Jane and Les, who were also taking a few extra days in Cornwall, and had a kite surfing lesson on the beach at Perranporth. I guess the instructor took one look at us 'over forties' and somewhat overweight (the men anyway as Jane is very slim) and his heart would have sunk, but I think he was pleasantly surprised as we all had a crack at it with enthusiasm and 'gusto' and even got to the stage where we were body dragging in the sea - it was brilliant and I definitely want to have more lessons.
I love Cornwall and was sorry to leave. We Will be back soon, hopefully as it is even better in the wintertime.
Jay had been looking after the house while we were away so all the dogs, horses and Billy had been well spoilt. She has now set off for the cycle ride from Northampton to Edinburgh with Selena and so far they are doing really well. She left it to the very last moment to set up a 'just giving' page and now she is wondering why she has so few sponsors so here is a plug for her -
http://www.justgiving.com/Jay-Adams1 She decided on this charity as she is very involved with them at university and does volunteer work for them. She loves what they are doing and knows that every penny raised will be very much appreciated and used in the best way.
I've just been swimming in the river as it is so mild and now it is absolutely pouring with rain. Very frustrating for the farmers who haven't finished combining.
