Burghley was fantastic for us - The 'Stay Cold' Boots just flew off the shelves and the feed back from people who bought last year was incredibly positive. We took the bikes again and each evening cycled into Stamford for a meal. Although it was really hard work during the day, the restaurants in Stamford were lovely and we rather spoilt ourselves which made up for the fact that we were 'camping' out in the horse trailer! We got back late on Sunday night and within minutes of arriving a police car swept into the yard - it was our friendly police officer, James, who had obviously been keeping a very close eye on our place while we were away. Really impressive, and restores your faith in the British police force.
The horses are now in work. Yesterday Doug and Andy (the 'proper' blacksmith) shod Harry, Dream, Frog, Red, Doris (the three year old) Dove and Jake (Doctor Kingsley) who is now Doug's hunter as poor Ben is still not right with his wrist and has just had another operation. Jake didn't seem to enjoy racing too much so we are going to try him in the hunting field.
Just off for a ride now that it has stopped raining..
