We have had the best two days racing at Cheltenham - Friday was countryside day and extremely sociable, it rained, so it was rather a bun fight in the bar but we managed to see most of the racing in between buying drinks. The impressive horse of the day had to be Cue Card who won his race in devastating form - he annihilated the field in the champion bumper last year and now he's following his form through in his hurdle races. A very exciting horse for the future and lovely that it is trained and owned by the Tizzards instead of one of the 'big boys'
Saturday was Paddy Power Gold cup day and Long Run was hot favourite , we saw him win easily on his first run in the UK at Kempton in the King George V on Boxing day last year and loved him then - sadly he couldn't quite get his act together and his jumping let him down only to finish 3rd to Little Josh (at 20-1!) However, I still think he will be unbeatable at Kempton again this year as he seems to prefer a flatter track. David Allen had his horse 'Edgebriar' running in the same race - he ran a great race but was badly hampered three for home and then had to run around a fallen horse 2nd from home so ended up coming in a very creditable 8th and ran well above his mark. In the evening we joined the Allens at Edgecote House for a delicious supper - a perfect end for a lovely day.
Today we will be watching the action on TV whilst catching up on a few jobs. We've just had to put the greenhouse back together as I left the door open and it 'exploded' with the gales we had on Thursday!
