Team Harkin before the Open Day

Lucy (in the middle) just popped in to say goodbye as she was about to go on holiday (hence the skirt). The other girls, from left to right Georgie, Laura, Clarissa and Amy were all a great help on the day, and Laura and Clarissa with the help of Annette who was behind the bar when this photo was taken, worked their socks off the day before washing 17 horses and then mucking out 17 stables, so thank you girls!

The Open Day was a huge success. Over 150 people came. It was a beautiful day and as it had rained the day before there was no harvest to be done so the farmers were out in force. It was a lovely, jovial atmosphere and the horses were all very relaxed and happy. Doug did a great job on the microphone. After the horses were paraded everyone went into the barn for a delicious beef roll and a glass of wine (or two)

There was a lot of interest in the horses, particularly Ponty Pandy, Velvet Royale, Velvet Cloud and Back in a Flash. Some of the photos are on this link http://www.graftonwood.co.uk/pages/events.php

It was dark before the last guest went home - a really lovely day, and great to share our enthusiasm with such like minded people who seemed as excited about next season as we are!
