We have had a lovely few days celebrating Christmas with family and friends but now feel it would be quite nice to get back to normal and not feel like a force fed turkey. We have just spent a lovely afternoon with Joseph, Sophie and little Henry, who was given a tiny John Deere tractor by Grandpa Doug and absolutely loved it.
We are still deliberating on whether to run horses tomorrow at Chaddesley - the going has now been given as heavy, which is far from ideal but there is more rain expected which could help to make the ground sloppy, rather than tacky and holding. At this stage we have decided we are going to take Definite Dawn and Pontypandy - We will get there in time to watch the first two races before we declare and we won't run either if the ground is holding - The fact that they have dolled off two fences will definitely help Christopher's cause as the less fences he has to jump the less likely he is to fall off, also Definite Dawn won his maiden as a five year old in a sixteen runner race, second time out in the heavy, so it could suit him - (yes, I know what you are all thinking, he didn't have a thirteen stone jockey on his back then!!)
There is more rain expected tonight, so it could well be called off after an inspection tomorrow morning, so we will just have to wait and see...
