Whisper ran a fantastic race coming fourth in a really hot sixteen runner restricted at Larkhill. Particularly pleasing as we were a bit concerned about her fitness as she had lost quite a bit of time due to her tying up during the cold snap.She jumped like a stag and was hard on the bridle until two from home when she tired a little, but then ran on again and was only beaten for third by a short head. Very encouraging as she was the only one in the frame who hadn't already had a run and it is only her fourth time ever on a track.
I have just had a call from Clare, Christopher's wife to say that he had a bad fall out hunting today and won't be fit to ride tomorrow. A real shame for him as he had been looking forward to riding in his members and had got the marquee and a crowd of his friends all organised. However, the party will still be on and Peter will get the ride on DD. It might be a bit of a blessing as the horse is very fresh and as there aren't many runners wouldn't have had the necessary cover and may have been somewhat difficult to settle.... Ponty is entered for the members and looks very well as does Jess, who is going to Godstone, where she won her maiden last season.
