All horses good after the weekends racing. We have had a little rain these past few days which has made the grass field perfect for working the horses on. Which reminds me, I forgot to mention the drop pot contributions last week. The horses were really fresh after Cheltenham as we hadn't given them as much exercise as usual, and the first lot was Peter Mann's turn, riding Rosie - It happened just as Doug rode alongside Peter (Doug was on a very lively Scruffy) and he asked Pete what he thought the ground was like as he thought he was going to hit it very soon, when Rosie did a big leap and a buck and Pete was testing the softness of the ground himself - It was hysterical!  In the next lot the horses were equally lively and Doug got somewhat carted, he came charging alongside me, I was on Dolly who promptly put her head between her legs and bucked and bucked....... Needless to say I was off in my normal inelegant style and hit the ground like a star fish - The old curl up in a ball thing just didn't seem to happen, and I think everyone secretly (and understandably!) found it highly amusing. So, our end of season party is looking much brighter now at our expense, but annoyingly we still haven't managed to extract a contribution from Jason who is sadly leaving at the end of this week to continue with his polo career. We have two days left.........
Our entries have been made for Saturday at Whitfield and we are hoping to run Doctor Kingsley in the Mens Open, Jess in the Intermediate or members, Ponty in the members, possibly Dancer in the restricted, and Ben (Whither Goest Thou) in the maiden. Early the next morning we are then whizzing off to France for a few days to see Jay, who is cooking in a chalet and to do a bit of skiing. Can't wait.
