Burghley was hard work but well worth it and we had fantastic feedback on our Stay Cold Boots, although it seems that we may have almost saturated the Burghley market as it seemed as though almost everyone had already bought a pair and they were still (annoyingly) "as good as new". We still managed to weasel out a few new customers though. The weather was fabulous and it was actually rather nice staying in the lorry with the view of the lake and the beautiful Burghley House. We would cycle into Stamford in the evenings for our meal, meet up with a few fellow traders or spectators and then wobble back through the parkland. All very pleasant.
The actual event was very exciting with Avery, the lovely big grey horse, owned by Mark and Rosemary Barlow, winning it for the third time. We saw Mark, who we know through pointing, just before Avery did his dressage test and he was very nervous and not at all confident that his horse could pull it off again, so it must have been a great feeling of relief and pride to own such an awesome horse and have him back safe and sound..
We are now back in the groove and had a very good day today as Graham and Irena and their friend Alan, came to watch Budge work. They bought a half share just after the open day and this was a chance for them to see him under saddle and also view the Edgcote facilities. It couldn't have been a nicer day and we were all very excited with the way Budge worked as this was the first time he had been properly ridden since he came over on the 22nd August. He looked a picture and was really keen which was a great relief to us as we were a little worried that he might have been soured in Ireland. Tissie had also come to watch and is rather keen on taking a share, so we have a really nice group of people for him now which is great news for the season.
It was such a lovely day that I just couldn't bring myself to do any office work and went for a really long walk with the dogs instead, so I am now confined to the office catching up on what I should have done earlier...It was well worth it though - It is such a beautiful time of year and I am just soaking every golden moment up before the days shorten and winter arrives..
