No racing today or tomorrow. We thought we would take a little break and then run a few next weekend at Garthorpe and Kingston Blount.
We had Yogi Breisner in on Thursday afternoon. He was a bit limited on time so we just did Will and Cloud, Toby on Tic, Pete and Chubby and Kerry and Bryn. Hopefully he will be coming again next week to do another group.
I am just downloading the videos which I will be posting as soon as possible but in the meantime we are going to sit by the fire and watch the Ireland v England Six Nations match.
Oh. Not Ireland v England at all - That's tomorrow.
Anyway, as I said before I went to watch the rugby match that wasn't, on Thursday we had Yogi Breisner in again to help with the schooling of both horse and jockey. We had Peter on Chubby (unnamed half sister to Doctor Kingsley bred by Chubb Castle) Toby on Tic (unnamed filly we bought from Ireland out of She's Our Mare a black type mare who won twelve races) She had never jumped before except a little hurdle in the menage and as you will see was a bit sticky to begin with but soon got the hang of it. We also had Kerry on the old hand Definite Dawn and Will on Velvet Cloud.
Yesterday, (Friday) because Tic didn't really seem to understand the point of the session in the school we thought it would be a good idea to jump her upsides another horse on the schooling ground. Pete was riding her because Toby hadn't come in and was upsides Will on Ponty going up the tyres. She was a bit green to begin with but then the penny dropped, and she particularly loved going at speed. On the way home we rode past the bottom of the up hill gallop where she wanted to go up the track and then because we all walked straight past it she planted herself and refused to move. Pete cracked her with the whip and she had an absolute temper tantrum, rearing up and cracking Pete in the face. He had a slightly bloody nose and seemed fine but then he started to ask repeatedly what had happened. To cut a long story short he got worse and couldn't remember a thing so eventually Doug took him to hospital - I have to say that Doug couldn't resist the temptation to spin all sorts of stories every time Pete asked him what had happened and it was hugely amusing as even with his bang on the head Pete still saw the funny side. He had has head scanned and Doug said they found a shrivelled up gerbil, but apparently he passed his scan and all is fine now, thank goodness as it was a little worrying when he simply couldn't remember from one second to the next.
