We took Dr K, Definite Dawn and Out of Range hunting with the Essex today. Christopher Padfield, who is the master and owns both the latter two horses wants to run one or both in his members, and wanted the horses to be seen out hunting so that they could qualify. It was the farmers meet and very sociable. We arrived in the farmyard at ten thinking we were an hour early only to find that the yard was full of horse boxes and cars and the party was in full swing. Everyone was really friendly. Christopher's groom, Dee was riding Harry (Out of Range) for us and she did a great job as he can be quite strong, I was on Definite Dawn and Doug was on Dr K, who absolutely loved it. We have found out what has caused his lacklustre races and have had his hocks treated which seems to have given him a new lease of life. Because he seems so much happier we have entered him for the Cheltenham Foxhunters. He loves Cheltenham so he may as well have another crack at it. Very exciting....
