Fabulous sunny weather. The only downside is that the ground is drying out quickly and the weekends racing might be a bit on the quick side. We are taking Dancer, Harry (Out of Range) and Bryn (Definite Dawn) to The Essex hunt point to point at High Easter tomorrow. Christopher Padfield, who owns Bryn and Harry is the master of the Essex and understandably wants his horses to run there. It is a huge pity that it clashes with Mollington, our local track but High Easter and the Padfield party is always really good fun. On the Sunday we are taking Dr K, Sea Rock, Ponty and King of Angels (Elvis) to the Pytchley at Guilsborough, so it is a busy weekend.
We had a rather amusing contribution to the drop pot today - We were just coming back from a hack and I was in the front talking to El. The boys were behind and I could hear them giggling and being silly. Suddenly there was a shout and I turned around just in time to see Billy crashing head first onto the stone track, where he lay groaning for longer than I would have liked. When he had stopped writhing with pain he started to chuckle and I asked him what on earth had happened, he said "I was facing the wrong way!" Apparently Peter and Toby were winding each other up to do various stunts on their horses and Billy had tried to do 'Around the World' and Endo, who is normally completely horizontal bucked him off just as he was facing the wrong way. Very funny and luckily no bones broken and £10 for the drop pot as it was self inflicted.
