The autumn colours are stunning at the moment. Mr Allen loved autumn and took huge delight in the beauty  at this time of year. When we first came here seven years ago he had just planted beech whips all along the lanes. At the time the spindly little twigs looked less than impressive but now they have grown into magnificent hedges which are turning into a deep rustic orange. Somehow the exquisiteness of his foresight heightens the heartache of his absence.
