Lady Luck deserted us on Friday with Immie and Popaway parting company at the third fence. Popaway then continued on and jumped every fence perfectly (causing a bit of carnage) and finished in front. Very frustrating as I secretly thought she would definitely win as she has been in the form of her life. Possibly too much so which is causing her to be so bold and exuberant at her fences. We just felt so sorry for Immie but most of all for Popaway who is in her twilight years now and hasn't got many chances left. She is fiercely competitive and hates losing. It was a very long drive home...  We have contacted Yogi Briesner who watched the replay and thought that he could sort the duo out with a bit of coaching so he is booked to come a week on Tuesday.
However, today our luck changed with a very good second with Exclusive Rights at Brocklesby on softer ground that she would have liked. Now that she has qualified for the Intermediate final at Cheltenham we can relax a bit with her and wait for the ground to improve as we know she is a completely different horse on quicker ground. It was a great days racing and I am so pleased for the Brocklesby organisers that the rescheduled meeting was such a success.
