Popaway, Jess (We Never Give Up) and Burrows Spring are now 'ladies in waiting' and they are coming in at nights to be watched by the cameras. As it is a bit colder today they were all absolutely delighted to be tucked up in a warm stable with food and hay.
The virus continues with over 31,000 deaths. This evening Boris gave a fantastic speech this stating the 'five alert plan' to ease the virus lockdown. It is still fairly strict but he is trying to encourage people who cannot work from home to go back to work, but avoiding public transport, which will be difficult for some. The problem is there are an awful lot of people that have got rather used to being paid for staying at home and don't want to return to work - Wales and Scotland are in lockdown for another three weeks. Ideally that is probably sensible but the bottom line is the country will go broke if it has to continue to pay people for doing nothing. The economy has to start again, albeit at a fairly low level. The PM is stuck between a rock and a hard place. No matter what he does it won't be right for the sniping press. However, it does beggar belief that with the biggest recession looming for three hundred years they are still insisting on going ahead with HS2 with a cost of over 100 billion. Quite extraordinary....
The VE celebrations yesterday were fantastic even though everyone was pretty good at social distancing. All the local villages took it very seriously and there was bunting and tea parties everywhere and a fabulous air display in London
