Great break away apart from it being ruined by HS2

We were supposed to be going to France for a few days to our good friend, Nikki's 60th Birthday Party. There were twenty of us making the journey and it would have been an absolute blast with all sorts of fun things being planned like a white water rafting race - I was SO looking forward to it. Sadly due to the increase in the virus in France we had to cancel as we would have had to quarantine for 14 days after we got back.

A few of the group decided to have a few days in Cornwall instead and ten of us stayed at Hazel and David's lovely converted barn, which we had seen years ago during its conversion. They had made a great job of it and it was a lovely few days away except for the dreadful harassment we received from HS2 via our solicitor which started as soon as we left home. Basically, they threated us with eviction in four days time (August 18th) even though we were not due home until the 19th, unless we moved the huts and cancelled our guests. We had to cut our holiday short to get back in time to save our home and animals. In another email they said that they were going to "remove the horses" even though they knew that they were not on the possessed land. Had we been in France and not able to get a flight back I dread to think what they would have done.  We understand that they have bat surveys to do but we could have easily worked around them. They seem to make it their mission to be as nasty and as unreasonable as possible.  However, its things like this that make you realise what great friends we have as everyone has been very supportive. We are now on the road to ADR (Alternative Dispute Resolution) which is legally binding on both sides. The Barrister has been approved by both sides, who is the adjudicator and provided HS2 don't try to wriggle out of it we should have a decision made within the month when we can start planning our future and living our life again.  I cannot even begin to tell you how stressful this has been and how it broke my heart to have to cancel bookings with people who had been really looking forward to a break after being in lock down due to the virus.
