Dove ran today at Garthorpe - She started really sweetly - Will had his feet out of the irons again and jumped the first with no stirrups - he only just managed to get his feet in before the second - a very brave effort. She was in the leading pair for most of the race but made a huge blunder four fences from home which knocked the stuffing out of her and Will did really well to stay on board, but then seeing that her chance had gone he nursed her home and she came in a very creditable fourth. It was the fastest time of the day and she beat some good horses so we were pleased with her. She blew hard after the race which shows that she has lost a bit of fitness due to her bad behaviour during the last ten days. Also, it didn't help that Doug and I had been away for the last few days (still celebrating my birthday) and she didn't quite get as much work as I would have liked.
My parents very kindly booked a cottage in North Yorkshire for us and we returned last night after a superb break. I have got some lovely photos which I will post tomorrow. Must go and get Dove and Frog in from the field as Dove deserves a good supper.
