We didn't run Jake today as the ground was too firm so we had my parents around for lunch as it was Mothers Day - it was a lovely day and Mum is bearing up really well. The radio therapy seems to have worked and she seems full of energy. She never complains so it is difficult to judge how she really is. They have just got back from a holiday in Anglesey which they thoroughly enjoyed. This dry weather is beginning to be a problem as far as running the horses is concerned - the water table is so low now that it would take a lot of rain for the ground to become genuinely good. If it continues we may have to give the horses an early summer holiday as we don't want to risk them on firm or watered ground. We had a short shower of rain just now. I just love the smell of the ground when it gets damp after a dry spell. Everything is bursting into life. This is the most beautiful time of the year, it really is.
