Our new horse 'Never Give up' is due to arrive on Thursday morning all being well - I'm a bit worried in case she's a donkey as there's no chance of returning her back to Ireland once she's here, but if she's a nice enough person we can always do something else with her and sell her on.
This afternoon we went to look at a sister of Doctor Kingsley who is for sale, as we had an owner who might have been interested in buying her - unfortunately she was a bit too small, unbroken and he was asking far too much for her. We then went on to see a mare called Intimate Whisper at Stuart Campbell's - he had rung during the week to tell us about her - and that she needed a home - She's a five year old and has had one run on the flat where she basically wasn't fast enough but he thought she would be a great pointer - we had our doubts as we thought she wouldn't stay but have just checked her pedigree and found that her dams half sister, was a very useful staying hurdler rated 154 and that her grandmother had won and been placed in a point to point, added to that when we saw her we couldn't find a thing wrong - even though I had gone determined not to buy another horse, even better though is that the owner and breeder of the horse may want to keep an interest and pay towards her training. That would be a perfect result. She has got a lovely nature and seems really genuine - Stuart loose schooled her over a barrel and poles (only the second time she has had her feet off the ground) which she did very willingly and then rode her bareback to her stable. Oh dear, I can feel another addition to the family about to happen...
