Popaway won!!! We tried her with a tongue tie for the first time as we suspected that she might have a slight breathing problem, and it seemed to have made all the difference.Apparently she ran a cracker and the 'Rob, Roy, Henry, John partnership' were over the moon.
Jess also ran a very good race but the ground was softer than it had ever been before at Paxford and it didn't suit her, although she was going really well until she got hampered four from home and she very nearly went through a hurdle, which stopped her in her tracks. She jumped really well and would have come fourth but Toby very sensibly pulled her up just before the last fence as she was getting tired. Both horses were fine this morning and ready to fight another day.
We have made entries for next week-end and for High Easter (Sat) we have entered Definite Dawn in the members, Dancer in the restricted and Jake in the Men's Open (3.6 miles) We have also double entered him for the Men's Open at Guilsborough, with Ponty, Flash and Dolly also entered in the maidens. At the moment it is heavy going but with a drying week predicted it should be good to soft by Sunday.
