We took Popaway, Endofdiscusion, King of Angels and Val D'Auberge (Dug) to the Atherstone today and ended up just running King of Angels (Elvis) in the first, where unfortunately both Peter and Elvis were a little too keen and parted company at the sixth fence. Both are none the worse for wear and ready to fight another day. Popaway was entered in the Men's open and won, but sadly it was a 'Walk-over' as she didn't have any opponents. The idea of going today was to give her a prep run before Cheltenham and to see if the wind operation had worked but it wasn't meant to be. A lot of people didn't want to run their horses as the going had been given out as good with soft patches which by the time it got to today it wasn't correct as it had dried out so much and it had some firm patches. For a firm ground horse it would have been safe but both Endo and Dug had previous leg problems and it wasn't worth the risk.
However, we still had a lovely day and had a very jolly picnic around the lorry. Holly managed to win another two best turned out's so her tally now stands at 21!! Full credit to her as she had been to a Young Farmers party the night before and had only about two hours sleep as had Bridget, who had been to a Birthday party in Worcester, We had been to Amy Harper's brilliant wedding party and turned in at 1.30 am, so we all feeling a little shabby. Sunday roast and an early night now........
