We are just on our way back from Garthorpe where on the whole we had a bit of a mixed day. We had two seconds and two pull ups. Whisper jumped disappointingly which was surprising as she schooled so well on Friday but she is still a bit rusty at speed having had two years off. She was pulled up soon enough so she can go to Dingley next week. Val D' Auberge sadly pulled up lame so we will see how he is tomorrow. He is eating his haynet and looking perfectly happy at the moment so hopefully it isn't too bad. The King of Angels came a very good second to Lough Inch, and bearing in mind he made a noise and clearly needs a wind operation he ran a cracker. However, the horse who stole the show and who we were absolutely delighted with was little Ask Away (Chubby) who on only her second start jumped like a stag and came a really good running on second in a strong field of nine. We couldn't believe how well she went and also how much she enjoyed herself. She has such a lovely attitude and is so eager to please. All being well she will be going to Chaddesley Corbett in the mares maiden in two weeks time. The team also won best turned out with Elvis bringing their total to a massive twenty six for the season. Well done to them!
Although it was a shame about Dug it was a great days racing and we are so grateful that all the horses have come home safely.
